Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Recruitment 2025 Application Portal

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) includes the Kenya Army, Kenya Navy, and Kenya Air Force. KDF is responsible for defending the country and supporting peace and national security.

The recruitment is done publicly and is free of charge. Do not pay anyone or engage with unofficial agents.

KDF Recruitment Portal 2025 Out?

The official KDF recruitment for 2025/2026 is not yet out. As of now, the Ministry of Defence has not announced the start of this year’s intake.

Ignore recruitment adverts on unofficial sites. Only follow updates from the Ministry of Defence or local recruitment announcements.

Requirements

To be eligible, you must meet the following general conditions. These may vary depending on the role (General Service Officer, Tradesmen/women, or Specialist):

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen
  • Must have a valid Kenyan ID
  • Age: 18 to 26 years for GSO and Tradesmen/women; up to 30 years for specialists
  • Minimum KCSE grade of D (for General Duty); higher grades and certifications for trades/specialists
  • Must be physically and medically fit
  • Must not have a criminal record
  • Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment
  • Height: Men – minimum 1.60m; Women – minimum 1.52m

Additional qualifications may be required for professionals or specialists.

Vacancies

KDF usually recruits under different categories, including:

  • General Service Officers (GSO)
  • Cadets (Graduate)
  • Tradesmen and Tradeswomen (e.g. plumbers, electricians, mechanics)
  • Specialists (e.g. doctors, engineers, IT experts)
  • General Duty Recruits

Each role has specific academic and professional requirements, which will be published when recruitment begins.

How to Apply

KDF recruitment is done through physical reporting at recruitment centers. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Wait for the official recruitment dates and venue schedule from the Ministry of Defence
  2. Visit your nearest listed recruitment center on the specified date
  3. Carry originals and copies of documents (ID, academic certificates, etc.)
  4. Go through the physical, medical, and document verification process
  5. If shortlisted, wait for further instructions on training or reporting

Do not submit applications online unless directed officially. KDF normally uses physical recruitment, not web forms.

Deadline

There is no official deadline yet. The recruitment process has not started.

Once announced, the KDF recruitment schedule will include county-by-county dates and locations. These exercises usually run for 2–3 weeks across all regions.

  • Meet the age, education, and fitness requirements
